Why learn with us

Flexible Learning

Learn at your own pace, join a cohort, or build capability across a team or organisation.

Practical
Built from Experience

Learn from practitioners working across health and safety, technology, human factors and innovation. Practical methods, frameworks and examples you can use in your own work.

Capability that Lasts

Go beyond learning individual tools. Build the judgement, methods and ways of working that remain useful as technology continues to change.

Why the Academy exists

Technology is changing how work is designed, managed and performed. Health and safety professionals need to be part of shaping that change.
The Safety Innovation Academy exists to build the skills, capability and judgement needed to do that well.

Technology is moving quickly

AI, automation and digital technologies are being introduced across organisations at pace. Decisions about how they are selected, designed and implemented can have direct implications for people, work and risk.
Health and safety professionals need enough understanding to ask good questions, contribute early and influence those decisions.

Better Work, By Design™

Our approach is grounded in a simple idea: good health and safety outcomes begin with how work is designed.
Technology can remove demands, improve visibility, support decisions and create new ways of working. It can also introduce new risks, complexity and unintended consequences.
The challenge is knowing the difference.

Build capability, not dependency

Learning a particular tool matters, but tools change.
The Academy helps people build practical skills alongside the judgement, methods and ways of working needed to evaluate technology, solve problems and adapt as the technology changes.

Safety as an outcome

We want health and safety professionals to be able to contribute to the design of better work.
That means understanding where technology can help, where it may create new risk, how people will interact with it, and how to make decisions that improve work rather than simply digitise what already exists.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous experience with AI or digital technology?

No. Our courses are designed to meet people where they are. Some are introductory, while others go deeper into specific tools, methods or areas of practice. Each course page explains what experience, if any, is recommended.

Are the courses only about AI?

No. AI is an important part of the Academy, but the scope is broader. We cover digital technology, SafetyTech, innovation, problem solving, work design, responsible adoption and the practical skills needed to lead safety in a changing world of work.

Are the courses designed specifically for health and safety professionals?

Yes (and No). The Academy is built around the realities of health and safety practice. Examples, activities and frameworks are designed to help people apply what they learn to real work, rather than learning technology in isolation. However, given the practical nature of our courses they are highly rated by other team member including senior leaders from other disciplines.

Can organisations enrol teams?

Yes. We offer learning options for teams, cohorts and enterprise organisations. Depending on the program, this may include facilitated sessions, private cohorts or learning tailored to your organisation.

How much does it cost?

Individual enrolment prices are available for each course and are quoted in $AUD including GST. If you pay in another currency, your card issuer sets the exchange rate. Team and Enterprise pricing is quoted on request and invoiced in your local currency.

Can I claim CPD points or hours?

Most professional bodies accept self-directed learning towards continuing professional development. Each course page states the estimated learning hours, which is the figure most bodies ask for. Whether a course counts, and for how much, is decided by your professional body, not by us.
