About us

Our mission

Build the capability to shape what comes next

The Safety Innovation Academy exists to help health and safety professionals lead as AI and digital technology reshape work.
Our aim is to build the skills, capability and judgement people need to understand new technology, use it responsibly, influence how it is introduced and help design better work.
We are pro-technology and pro-caution. New tools can improve how work is done, but useful adoption depends on good questions, good design and a clear understanding of the people and work affected

Our approach

Practical by design

Learning should change what you can do. Our courses use practical examples, exercises, frameworks and resources that help people apply new skills in their own work.

Built for health and safety

The Academy is designed around the realities of health and safety practice. We connect technology and innovation to risk, work design, human factors, implementation and decision making.

Designed for change

Technology will keep changing. We teach current tools where they matter, while building the judgement and methods that help people continue learning as the technology evolves.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need previous experience with AI or digital technology?

No. Our courses are designed to meet people where they are. Some are introductory, while others go deeper into specific tools, methods or areas of practice. Each course page explains what experience, if any, is recommended.

How do you keep the courses up to date?

AI and digital technology are changing quickly, so course maintenance is an ongoing part of the Academy. We monitor product changes, emerging practice and relevant developments across the technology landscape. We update supporting resources regularly and revise course content when changes materially affect what we teach. Where appropriate, we also point learners to trusted sources they can continue to follow after the course.

What happens if a tool changes after I complete a course?

Our courses teach practical tool use, but we also focus on the underlying methods, judgement and ways of working that remain useful as technology changes. Where a course depends heavily on a specific platform, we update it when significant changes affect the learning.

Are the courses only about AI?

No. AI is an important part of the Academy, but the scope is broader. We cover digital technology, SafetyTech, innovation, problem solving, work design, responsible adoption and the practical skills needed to lead safety in a changing world of work.

Are the courses designed specifically for health and safety professionals?

Yes (and No). The Academy is built around the realities of health and safety practice. Examples, activities and frameworks are designed to help people apply what they learn to real work, rather than learning technology in isolation. However, given the practical nature of our courses they are highly rated by other team member including senior leaders from other disciplines.

Can I learn at my own pace?

Yes. Many of our courses are self-paced and can be completed when it suits you. We also offer cohort-based and facilitated learning for selected programs.

Can organisations enrol teams?

Yes. We offer learning options for teams, cohorts and enterprise organisations. Depending on the program, this may include facilitated sessions, private cohorts or learning tailored to your organisation.

How do I choose the right course?

Start with the capability you want to develop or the challenge you are trying to address. Each course page explains who the course is for, what you will learn and the level of experience expected. If you are looking at learning for a team or organisation, contact us and we can help you identify the right starting point.

When can I start?

Self-paced courses can usually be started as soon as enrolment is complete. Cohort and facilitated programs run on scheduled dates, which will be shown on the relevant course page.

Will I receive a certificate?

Where a course includes a certificate of completion, this will be clearly stated on the course page. Certificates recognise completion of the learning program and should not be interpreted as a professional qualification unless specifically stated.

How practical are the courses?

Very. The Academy focuses on skills and capability people can apply in their work. Courses include real examples, practical exercises, frameworks and tools designed to help you move from understanding a concept to using it.

Do I need a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence for the Copilot course?

The course is most useful if you have access to Microsoft 365 Copilot at work, because the activities ask you to use it on your own tasks. You can complete the course without a licence and use it to build the case for one. The Foundations module and the setup and configuration guides explain what you need in your Microsoft environment to get value from Copilot.

How much does it cost?

Individual enrolment prices are available for each course and are quoted in $AUD including GST. If you pay in another currency, your card issuer sets the exchange rate. Team and Enterprise pricing is quoted on request and invoiced in your local currency.

How long do I have access?

For as long as a course is offered on our platform, with a minimum of 12 months from enrolment. If we retire a course we give at least 30 days' notice and, where we can, access to its replacement at no charge

What is your refund policy?

Change your mind within 14 days of enrolling and receive a full refund, provided you have accessed less than 20% of the course. Cohort programs can be cancelled for a full refund up to 7 days before the start date. Full details are in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Can I claim CPD points or hours?

Most professional bodies accept self-directed learning towards continuing professional development. Each course page states the estimated learning hours, which is the figure most bodies ask for. Whether a course counts, and for how much, is decided by your professional body, not by us.
